Interest in college rugby might be at an all-time high. In 2012 the Rugby Channel’s Landrover First XV series televised 34 matches from Wakworth to Gore and no less than 12,000 spectators attended the 1A Auckland championship final at Eden Park.

Fantastic Fifties And A Bit Of The Sixties: Nelson College First XV: 1950-1961
The 1950s was a decade of consistent strength for the First XV at Nelson College. Between 1950 and 1957 the Quadrangular final was reached four times for two victories. In 1958 Nelson commenced a run of success to rival the record of their great teams from 1946-1949.
