The Christchurch Boys’ High School First XV has had some brilliant coaches in their history, including three All Blacks, James Burrows, Pat Vincent and Sir John Graham. However the only man who can boast three unbeaten teams at the school is the long-serving, eccentric, and much-loved Henry “Swannie” Dyer.
Interest in college rugby might be at an all-time high. In 2012 the Rugby Channel’s Landrover First XV series televised 34 matches from Wakworth to Gore and no less than 12,000 spectators attended the 1A Auckland championship final at Eden Park.
Otago Boys’ High School: 22 (Sekonaia Pole, Josh Dickson, Josh Casey tries; Sio Tomkinson 2 con, 1 pen) Christchurch Boys’ High School: 17 (Anton Lienert-Brown 2, Michael Green tries; Fletcher Smith 1 con)
